Probably over the last 10-12 years the MACHINE HEAD & WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE albums are the only two DEEP PURPLE albums that i still occasionally listen to (maybe about twice a year each right through?).
The reason for the above statement is that i've got 'tons of' other rock cds by different bands from the 1970s that i listen to and only occasionally 'dig out' a DEEP PURPLE cd and when i do it usually is either MACHINE HEAD or WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE although one day i'll have to have a listen to IN ROCK & FIREBALL again for 'old times sake'.
I regularly listen to songs from all their albums, including the first three, and four of the latter (with Morse). In general, for me, Deep Purple stands on a first place in the Big Three of hard-rock.
Just come across this Deep Purple from '87 Detroit, Ritchie pulling out the stops. I caught them on this tour at the Birmingham N.E.C. I remember Ritchie put on a killer show down on one knee just going for it. When he was in the mood he took some beating I reckon.
