Soot and Stars
I AM SOOT!
I'm the guy who champions music from the 90's on and even I don't care much for the particular ones picked. I mean I like about 3 or 4 of the songs but none of them would've been on my list. I've never been one to get shaken up by list. They are all irrelevant to me. About the only thing that justifies looking at them is if they break it down or give a blurb about why they pick them. Even if I don't agree with it at least I can see the reasoning behind the personal picks. I mean some of the ones on the list were just plain HUGE songs in popularity and that's just the way it is. For example, I got tired of "Hey Ya" after all the exposure but it was a phenom of a song and different for radio at the time. It had young and old audiences with that song hooked in their heads. It was a perfect pop song. Most people will piss on it now because they can only remember it got burned into their brains and got tiresome because radio played it to death. Others will write it off because it's more hip-hop and they just plain hate Hip-Hop. Well facts say it did it's job and was a huge song in the 2,000's. Just giving one example of a song that is justified on a list like this that won't make sense to people here simply because of the demographic.
