BRET MICHAELS' New Solo Album To Feature DEF LEPPARD Members - Aug. 29, 2011
POISON singer Bret Michaels recently spoke to Billboard.com about his forthcoming solo album, "Get Your Rock On", which he hopes to release sometime next year. The CD will likely turn out to be a guest-studded affair that will feature DEF LEPPARD's Joe Elliott and Phil Collen, Stevie Nicks, possibly members of LYNYRD SKYNYRD and younger groups such as POP EVIL and MY DARKEST DAYS.

"I'm in the process of doing it as we speak," Michaels told Billboard.com. "When you're having other artists perform with you, it's about working with their time schedule and a lot of taking care of some of the business before you can enjoy the pleasure of just jamming together. I try to keep it pretty organic. We have to make sure everyone's good with the timing and can get into the studio to sing. But I think we're going to have a blast making this record."

Michaels is hoping to have a first single — likely the title track, featuring Elliott and Collen — out by the end of the year, digitally if not on CD.

I'm surprised Joe Elliott is willing to be seen in the same studio with Bret Michaels with all the times he has dogged other bands from the 80's not named Def Leppard.

Perhaps this is the equivalent of a "sympathy" single collaboration by Elliott...;)

Yes...Elliott had a war of words with Poison a year or maybe two ago [?] when he tried to distance the Leps from the "hair" bands of the 1980's with disparaging comments.

Why on earth would anyone in Def Leppard be critical of bands that had the same style as they did...:wtf:

I've had running discussions with more than one fan over the years about DL, and I have never considered them Metal...at least not like Priest and Maiden.

Oh well like 70's Guy said they've kissed and made up now so it's all good.;)

Joe Elliott simply chooses to carry himself the same way that Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue does. Put down every band from your era except the band you played in.

In every other interview either of these guys do, they'll rant and rave about how much they hate Poison, Warrant, Winger, Slaughter, Quiet Riot, Ratt, etc. and most of the time they will bring those groups up without being asked.

Both Leppard and the Crue were bugged for years by promoters/managers to tour with Poison and for years both of them refused before finally giving in and doing it.

I understand it is probably smarter for the purpose of their street cred to distance themselves from groups or people they were friends with in the 80's and early 90's, but it does get old after awhile.

I have to agree LG...and I never thought of them as the same as Priest or Maiden, but what do you think?

With On Through The Night they were sure off to a good start...and then something happened.

:pullhair:

But regardless they made good albums...Pyromania was no OTTN but it is a classic. :cheers2

Pyromania to me will always be DL finest album...as far as being "metal",,,I've just always thought of them as a hard rock band and never considered them as NWOBHM.

I like Def Leppard. even some of their softer material is decent, but when I want a fix I always reach for Pyromania first.:D
