This duo is about the most shamelessly fun, exuberant, uplifting fun duo since Junior Senior and I love them. They create dance pop that has just enough simplicity and rawness to be considered a little punk and just enough songwriting geek cred to stay cool with the indie hipster crowd! I love the drumming in this and it's rare to strip pop down to these essentials and have a drumbeat come in strong that is real/organic and not processed. The first song I ever heard from them was off of their Sophomore album aptly titled

Grand


The song was Daylight and it's about the most uplifting inspirational happy pop song I've ever heard. I feel like Rocky when I hear this! It pumps me up with enthusiasm! It's cool because it's got some local cred for me as when they are talking about hitchhiking over to the next state from me which is Maine! Matt's hometown is actually in Vermont so it's nice to see some Northeast flavor in my selections. Here's the sunshine opus itself:

The reason I got the inspiration to bring these guys up is they have a new album coming out and I'm getting psyched for it. The album is:

Well I hope that people can have fun with this group because that's the point and take comfort in the fact that the fun is coming from pure undoctored raw music!

Very odd bright and catchy stuff...Turn This Boat Around is a good song. The vocals remind me of something, and I hate when that happens. The closest thing I could think of was they sounded a bit like The Wonder Stuff on Good Ol' Fashioned Nightmare.

I was at that show.
Actually I see my friend in the video, thankfully I'm to his right and out of the picture.

Yeah Matt & Kim are fun and that video above with the marching band was the best show I saw them at. I've seen them as warmup acts a few times.
I don't have their albums but I've got a song or two.

Aktivator-That looks like it was awesome to be at! It gives me a boost knowing that if I post a thread there's someone here who's got a good chance of knowing them and beyond as far as experiences!

This title track is really cool! The album is at the top of my list during my next shopping excursion!

Matt and Kim are totally new to me! Thankyou Sooty for the intro to them! I'm loving the songs that are posted! They are such a up beat funky duo! They seems to create their own style which is unique to them (unless their is someone similar, I don't know)! But they a definitely getting added to the play list!

Leah, honest to God I don't think these guys have a sound alike and I'm glad to like them! They sound like an insane indie carnival band or something! They have such an energy that gets me going! Your playlist is getting bigger Leah!

Is it true saying (I haven't heard all their songs) they wouldn't have one sad song? They just seem to happy and love what they do!

My list is getting their, not as big as yours!

I've been a fan of Matt and Kim ever since Sooty posted them in Musical Thirst way back once upon a time ago. Here's a favorite of mine.



Honestly, Matt's vocals sound kind of.....not so good, but it's that kind of off-ness that fits perfectly with what they do.

Hey Cosmic, it just dawned on me that you did confess to liking them and you hadn't debuted in my thread until now! Glad you did so you can join the rest of us. The song you posted was good. I haven't got into that second album as much as the first but I may have too try it again.
