Soot and Stars
I AM SOOT!
Richard Cheese is officially my first novelty act of all time. What he does is pretty simple and admittedly one note in that he takes harder music, gangsta rap and various genres and turns it into seedy lounge music. Amazingly, with the exception of an unnecessary Christmas album, I've never tired of it. Some of the arrangements are comedic genius in my opinion. I first saw this c.d.
Aperitif For Destruction
in a Hot Topic of all places in the listening booth. How could I not try this one out! I loved it and bought his whole catalog within a months time.
For those of you who don't think you know this guy you just might! This scene from Dawn of the Dead remake ingeniously uses Richards cover of Disturbed's Down With The Sickness during the scene where they randomly shoot Zombies from the rooftop! Youtube doesn't have the scene but here's the song in it's entirety!
Down With The Sickness
(Brilliant!)
My other favorite covers are:
Welcome to the Jungle (Guns N' Roses)
Man In The Box (Alice In Chains)
Closer (Nine Inch Nails)
The Girl Is Mine (Paul McCartney/Micheal Jackson)
Check him out if you're not a fan already and get a good laugh!
