from wikipedia

Blaze of Glory is Jon Bon Jovi's first solo album, released in 1990. It includes songs from and inspired by the movie Young Guns II. Emilio Estevez asked for Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" as the theme song for his upcoming Billy the Kid sequel, but Jon Bon Jovi ended up composing an all new theme song for the film's soundtrack instead. The album featured guests such as Elton John, Little Richard, and Jeff Beck. Blaze of Glory was awarded a Golden Globe. It also received Academy Award and Grammy nominations. The "Blaze of Glory" single hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, with the album peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart.

The album mainly focuses on the theme of redemption and whether an individual's past wrongs will catch up with them. Another theme on the album is about making a stand and making yourself heard in the world. Jon Bon Jovi said on the 100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong DVD that he originally thought the album's aggression and themes dealt with Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett from Young Guns II but has come to realize that they reflect the bad place he was in at the time.

2. "Miracle"
3. "Blaze of Glory"

Re: The official Bon Jovi thread

I must admit that Bon Jovi is the band that clearly guided me towards rock/metal music.

Stranger_In_This_Town.jpg

1991

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stranger in This Town is a rock/blues solo album by Richie Sambora, the guitarist from New Jersey band Bon Jovi.

As his first solo album, Sambora experimented with a more blues-oriented sound. He sings lead vocals and plays guitar on the album, backed by Bon Jovi bandmates Tico Torres on drums and David Bryan on keyboards, joined by Tony Levin on bass. Eric Clapton guest stars with a guitar solo on the track "Mr. Bluesman".

"Ballad of Youth", "One Light Burning" and "The Answer" were co-written with colleagues from his former club band Shark Frenzy. "Rosie" was originally intended to be a Bon Jovi song for their fourth album "New Jersey"; versions of this song with the full Bon Jovi line-up have surfaced as bootlegs.

"Stranger in this Town" was released in 1991, while Bon Jovi was on a 17 month hiatus. Jon Bon Jovi also put out a solo album in 1990 during this period.

The lead single "Ballad of Youth" reached a high of #63 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts. "One Light Burning" and the title track "Stranger In This Town" were also released, but failed to chart, with all three singles being accompanied by music videos. Ironically, despite "Stranger In This Town" not charting, it is considered one of Richie's best.

Occasionally, "Stranger in This Town" has been played by Sambora on Bon Jovi's tours, most recently on their Lost Highway Tour in 2008.

2. "Church of Desire"

KeepTheFaith.jpg

Nov.3,1992

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Keep the Faith is the fifth studio album by American rock band Bon Jovi, released on November 3, 1992 by Mercury Records. Keep The Faith represents the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Bon Jovi, which turned away from glam metal in favor of a more mature and unpretentious rock sound.

Following the completion of the New Jersey tour, the band went on hiatus. During their time off, Jon Bon Jovi wrote the soundtrack for Young Guns II, which was released in 1990 as the Blaze of Glory album and Richie Sambora released his first solo album called Stranger in This Town. By this time, Jon Bon Jovi fired his long time manager, Doc McGhee and created Bon Jovi Management. Jon decided to take on a larger role, and more responsibilities within the band. The band quickly became a corporation with Jon at the helm.

In October 1991 the band went to a Caribbean island of St. Thomas to discuss plans for the future; the band's internal problems were solved and they were ready to have a go at a comeback. According to an interview with Jon Bon Jovi on "Keep The Faith - The Videos", the album's original title was to be "Revenge". In January 1992 the band headed to Little Mountain Studios in Vancouver. They spent six months making the album with Bob Rock producing. Keep The Faith was released in October 1992. The musical tastes had shifted in the four years between New Jersey and Keep the Faith. Despite the industry's and audience's growing affinity for Grunge rock, Bon Jovi's sound morphed itself to work in the 1990s music scene, and also their image changed. Before the band reunited in the studio, Jon Bon Jovi spent the summer of 1991 in anonymity, riding his bike in places like Arizona, experiences that inspired him to write "Dry County" and "Bed Of Roses". He later commented "It would never have been possible [for me] to write songs like "Bed of Roses" or "Dry County" five years ago.".

A single for "Keep the Faith" was put out prior to the album's release with the song, "I Wish Everyday Could Be Like Christmas" appearing as the B-Side.

The album is the final appearence of Alec John Such as he did not record the bass parts on Bon Jovi's following Greatest Hits album "Cross Road".

Keep The Faith released in November 1992. The album managed to sell 2 million copies in United States, peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 and spent total of 49 weeks on the chart. The album produced three Top 40 hits. "Keep The Faith" hit the #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, "Bed of Roses" hit the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and "In These Arms" hit the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In the UK, reaction was quite impressive. Keep The Faith debuted there at #1, and spent 24 weeks inside the Top 20. Keep The Faith spent a total of 70 weeks inside the Top 75 of the UK Albums Chart. The album produced six UK Top 20 hit singles, three of which were hit the Top 10. These were "Keep The Faith", "Bed Of Roses", "In These Arms", "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead", "I Believe" and "Dry County". Keep The Faith was also a huge success in Canada, Germany, Australia, Japan and sold very well in both Asia and South America, two emerging and growing record markets. Re: The official Bon Jovi thread

So what are your feelings on these albums man? I know you're a huge fan but I can't really tell which ones you like overall so far. Do you have any opinions on the high points and low points so far? Honestly, the only Bon Jovi album I own before Crossroads came out is Slippery While Wet! :D What are the best of the earliest albums to get? Does anything come close to the feel of These Days in their whole catalog?
