Re: T.Rex!

I haven't listened to them in years, but Electric Warrior and The Slider were among my favorite albums when I was 16. I remember Dandy in the Underworld being a pretty solid album too.

"Ballrooms of Mars" was probably my favorite song by them.

T. Rex is a band I've always really liked, but have never listened to that much. The only thing I've ever had by them is Electric Warrior and somehow its gotten pretty scratched up.

This thread has inspired me to go ahead and order another copy of it, and I think I'll order Slider too. Thanks for reminding me of this great band, folks!

Re: T.Rex!

Bought a used videotape of this this weekend:

Watched it last night. Really interesting performances (wish they had mixed down the screaming girls between songs though, that was too shrill)

Marc Bolan playing acoustic doing a medley of his stuff with a violin quartet was really weird.

I'd love to see that.
I've really gotten into T. Rex as of late.
To the point where I find that Marc Bolan could have done anything at all, and it still would delight me.

He was an incredibly skilled, charismatic, soft-spoken, beautiful man.

Love this. "Mustang Ford".

Marc is really the only man, that can make you boogie even if you don't want to!

Is John's Children any good?

Re: T.Rex!

John's children, yeah.

Marc wasn't like, lead singer or anything but he was part of their gang.

He wrote "Desdemona", though. I think.

Lift up your skirt and fly.

You can hear Marc's cute little wonky voice in the chorus. ♥

Chris Townson, their drummer, punched Russ Mael (Sparks) in the face once when he was (also a drummer) with a different band, Jet(?). Jet's bassist was the guy that the bros Mael fired (bitchy-assed Martin Gordon). Just some weird "everyone's bloody well connected" facts.

Chris Townson later went on to be in a group called Radio Stars (1977) with Martin, and a couple other dudes (including John's Children's lead voice, Andy Ellison) - and they appeared on Marc's television show.

edit: here's another John's Children track Marc wrote: "Sarah Crazy Child".
