Re: The Jimi Hendrix Experience

I saw Jimi at Monterey a few days ago - wow, what a great gig, Jimi is definitely one of the best guitar players who ever walked on earth. The versions of Wild Thing and Like A Rolling Stone are amazing, the guitar burning scene is music history.

Then you'll enjoy this: The entire concert of Jimi Hendrix performing at the Woodstock festival in 1969.

Yeah, it's an unbelievable. And more unbelievable it never saw the light of day until 2010. ''Valleys of Neptune'' is like a gift from Jimi from the grave. It's mind blowing. Awesome stuff.

I wish the Hendrix estate would release some live stuff from 1967. There's a lot of live Jimi materiel from the last two years of his life out there. I wanna hear more of what Hendrix sounded like when he first arrived on the scene. Maybe some live shows from the club concert he did in London in '67. That would be cool.

I have over a hundred Hendrix albums/concerts and have a good feel for his musical transitions. I don't think he would have ever released this new material.
I like some oif it and have more of the Neptune session material on bootleg. Accepted as raw material it's okay, but not as a finished product.

I didn't pick up his new album...I am not the biggest Hendrix fan myself but I sure would have liked to see what he could have done if he didn't die so young and needlessly.

Still anytime one of the old legends has material released from the vaults, I think it's a good thing for his fans, old and young alike.

I really want to buy the new album, there are mixed reviews around, I have all his albums and some of the tracks off the new album in different forms so maybe I will buy it when it comes down in price:)

Re: The Jimi Hendrix Experience

As i was looking around the forum, i noticed there wasn't much hendrix mentioned. in my opinion, he is one of the best gutarists ever. He changed rock and roll. nobody was able to even come close to the innovations of his music until years after he was dead. It is very possible That he would have been extremely successful if he hadn't died at such a young age. You can add your favorite songs/albums/videos of hendrix and talk about him too. Last Year I did a 45-minute biography on him, and read a 800+ page book about him. if you truly want to experience hendrix, you need to read it. it is called room full of mirrors:a biography of jimi hendrix by Charles R. Cross
i would write everything about him, but im too lazy. it would take hours.
My favorite song of his is:all along the watchtower
My favorite album is: Experience Hendrix
