For some unknown reason I never bought any Thin Lizzy lps....though I did like some of the hits back in the day and recall some of my college friends playing Nightlife and Jailbreak.
I always thought of them as an Irish version of Bruce Sprinsteen though more hard rock.

That old grumpy man Van Morrison has always complaind that people like Springsteen and Thin lIzzy and others stole his signature style of gravelly voiced poetical rock n roll.

Van Morrison has always been a miserable old bastard...i have never really liked him or his music,..he has been called an Irish Bob Dylan, that is a real discredit to Bob..Van has had a bit of a reputation of walking off stage and not finishing a concert because things have upset him..fans paying hard earned money and getting treated like that is just not on for me, i think its disgraceful...The real pioneer of Irish rock n blues Rory Gallagher would never ever have treated his fans like that, NEVER...No matter whatever happened at a Rory show he would ALWAYS play on...Rory is the ultimate Irish rock hero.

I dont disagree that he can be a real curmudgeon ,but he's also a very talented singer songwriter who is considered by fans and critics alike as being a genius. I have several of his early lps as well as a long best of. If I could only keep one it would be Moondance but Tupelo Honey, Saint Dominics, Veedon Fleece, Wavelength, Into the Music ...are all wonderful albums.
His style is not for everyone, that's for sure....and his attitude at times sadly often turns people off to his music . Rory was of course a great influential bluesrock player and bluesman and I enjoy his lps ,. They were two completely different things back in the day.

Curious what your all time favorite Rory album is if you could only keep one.
I like Against the Grain, Tattoo, and Calling Card, and Irish tour 74

i like all of Rory's studio and live albums, but if i had to pick just one then it would be Irish Tour '74...Such an authentic live album recorded in those Irish cities that Rory held close to his heart.
