If the latest rumors about Wolfgang Van Halen‘s upcoming album are on target, he’s taking the whole “solo project” concept literally.

The Van Halen News Desk has posted a “small but amazing” update from unnamed sources behind the scenes, suggesting that Van Halen is “doing it all” on the album — as in playing all the drums, bass, guitars and keyboards himself, in addition to handling all the vocal tracks. The report adds that VHND has spoken directly with a pair of people who’ve heard portions of the work in progress, both of whom “totally loved” it.

VHND’s update adds a roundup of Van Halen’s Instagram photos and videos from the studio, posted starting in early 2015 and continuing through earlier this month. There’s still no official indication as to when or how the album might see release, but the progression of photos and clips seems to back up those sources — drums, bass, guitars, keys and vocals are all tackled along the way.

This latest burst of information marks the first real word on Van Halen’s solo LP since spring 2015, when Eddie Van Halen summed it up as sounding “like AC/DC meets Van Halen meets aggressive pop” and insisted it was “important” music in the context of modern rock ‘n’ roll.

“The riffs are catchy,” added Van Halen. “It’s a little of everything and sounds like a freight train coming at you. I’ve never heard anything quite like it. It’s so powerful that I’m jealous.”

It would be cool though if daddy & uncle Alex helped out.
