My daughter was born in 1979..Gen X. She's not a fan of prog rock. :(
There was so much experimentation going on from 1965-69 that it all ran together and styles were mixed. As I said above I post on Prog Rock Archives and we are always arguing about when and who started 'prog rock'. There is no real answer though most do believe that ITCOTCK by KC was probably the first major example of full blown prog rock. Earlier than that many bands were playing with the edges and doing cool things. You should ck out https://www.progarchives.com/
IT 's a really well done place for all things prog and prog related.
BTW...I'm 73 this summer....I go back to the beginning with all of these bands. :good

WE might as well make this the official prog rock thread so here is Andy Edwards opinion on the 10 perfect prog lps. 'Discuss amongst yourselves' as Beetlejuice once said. I dont agree with all of his picks but I own them all. I dont think Led Zep 4 is prog and I think the first 2 Mahavuishnu lps are better than Visions.
