Did you just nominate the Spice Girls in this thread??

Let me be clear by what I mean when I say "historic." I don't mean "groundbreaking" and I certainly don't mean "music that brought the music industry to a new low."

I'm looking for best album since the likes of what The Beatles or The Beach Boys, or Zeppelin put out in their heyday.

Ok, then. Now that I've made myself clear, we shall continue.

Seriously...:wtf:

...hey, you don't ask a question and then dictate the terms on which other people give you a reply, I answer anyway I choose, not the way you want me to answer, so live with it. Your problem is that you didn't remotely make yourself clear, without you going back an editing it (and I'll be watching closely) show me exactly where in your original post that you said 'rock' album, and where you excluded any other pop genres etc? You even mentioned Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. And anyway nothing is truly 'historic' until the passing of a great length of time judges it to be so, so actually your whole thread is just speculative period.

^^I tend to agree with you TS, I was going to mention Thriller, and even the Eagles Greatest Hits, both were massively successful albums and would be worthy of consideration.

Aero did not specify in his OP exactly what was fair game and what was not.

I did smile when I read your "Spice Girls" post, and in some ways you are right it did have a big impact on a generation of music lovers.

I hate editing/interfering in threads as a rule, but in this case I have no choice to uphold forum rules is not negotiable and there was no need to get overwrought about this. If someone dismisses me in a thread I refer to an old Neil Young song "Walk On".

Seems to work fine for me.

No I won't Bruce, you will have to ban me before I do that, and if you remove it yourself, then I'll ban myself. I actually spent a very long time writing that reply early this morning, and there isn't a single word in it that isn't perfectly ligitimate based on the question that was asked, and yet part of my reply is just ridiculed so that I am singled out to look like the dunce kid sitting clueless at the back of the class while all the other kids have their hands up. Get this Aero character to apologise for going out of his way to try and make me look like a moron, after I offered a long reply to his thread, and then maybe I'll remove it.

^^I am sorry you feel that way TS, I have edited your post I have no choice, the way you should have written it to get your point across without breaking any forum rules.

I enjoy the effort you make with your posts as you know, and I expect better of you than that.

I have kept the original, and would ask that you just forget about this we are adults after all.

"Nevermind" is a quick and easy pick but beyond that I think there have been plenty of landmark albums since 80's. I'd say Radiohead's "Ok Computer" (or "The Bends", which I favor more) made as large of an impact on alternative rock as "Nevermind" did in terms of stylistic choices and imitation. Pulp's "Different Class" is an iconic piece of early indie music that the genre is now built on. Or if we're going strictly by sales and hits then what about Alanis' "Jagged Little Pill" or even something as recent as Adele's "21"? It really comes down to the criteria with which it was being judged upon.

^^The only one of those I own is OK Computer, which I would also lobby for in this thread Cosmic.

Guess I'll go back to my cave for now.:peek

I'm sorry that I gave you the wrong impression. It was merely some good natured teasing so maybe I should've included a smiley along with it. I figured you'd know that I was just ribbing you for making that selection and you would simply defend your answer.

Of course, I don't see a problem with arguing with your selection. If I can't do that, this would be a boring forum.

Cool, maybe I need to be less sensitive about getting trolled, and not spotting it!!...so, my bad I guess! Thing is, ironically, there's maybe only 3 bands in history that I hate more than the Spice Girls, they represent everything that I hate about 21st century bubblegum charts 'pop'... though you don't want me to say who the other 3 are because then I just get into more trouble with a bunch of other people :-( ... I just reckon the Spice Girls changed pop music with their first album, which went viral, and so some would see it as an historic moment, but I never said that they changed it for the better, them and the 100's of wanabee imitators they spawned are just plain embarrassing....but historically so!! Anyway, cheers.

Just as a neutral party, the reply you gave to The Sound's reply(in my opinion) was rather inflammatory.

I would say OK Computer is high on my list considering your initial post's inquiry,
