Bizarrely, two different first gigs!

My mother took me to see Billy J. Kramer, Millie, The Purple Hearts, Peter Jay and The Jaywalkers, The Five Embers, and Margo & The Marvettes at Blackpool ABC on 17th May 1964.
I was only six and obviously don't remember anything at all about it, although she tells me that it was great fun!

However, the very first gig that I went to under my own steam, was to see Leo Sayer at Scarborough Spa in 1974.
What I remember about it can be read HERE.

My father showed me a tape of his favorite band AC/DC concert in England in 1991. It was just love at first sight. I fell in love with this band not only for their hits, but also for the emotions they gave me at my first concert, even though I was not at it live, even though I watched it already downloaded from RARBG, but still I was so emotionally shaken by what was happening that I watched it for a long time afterwards. It was from that moment that my love for this band and rock music in particular came.

I think it was The Kinks at Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto, 1977-04-29. Concerts were $40 then (converts to $213 now!).

The Statler Brothers with opening act Helen Cornelius. I saw them at the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, MA. Not sure of the year but it was sometime before 1986 or 1987 when I saw my first rock band show.

Unofficial 1st concert was James Brown in mid 60s . On the weekends , me and the lil neighborhood gang(about 8 of us) used to ride our bikes 9 miles round trip to the local amusement park. This one time was different , there was a concert going on in the parks pavilion. Much to the chagrin of the other gang members lol me and another kid went to investigate these sounds . We were like the kids peaking under the tent flaps at the circus . From then on i was hooked as well as the other kid. Later on in life i took up bass and the other kid turned out to be a badass drummer .

My 1st actual paying concert was Canned Heat in 1969 .

First country concert: Waylon Jennings and Jack Greene at Buck Lake Ranch, Angola, IN, Mid 60s with my friend and his musician Dad.
First rock concert: Jimi Hendrix Experience and Chicago at Indianapolis Coliseum 1969. Some friends from high school loaded up the Ford Falcon and made the trip to the big city.

The first official concert was with my future wife....at a dinner theater club in fall 1969....we saw The Cryan' Shames. But in the summer before that I saw Aorta (psych rock band from Chicago area) in a large parking lot behind a local church...we slipped in for free.
Started college in Sept '69 and saw Chicago (still called CTA then)for $3.50.
Those were the days.

I saw Kenny Rogers with my parents at a state fair when I was younger but David Gilmour was the first concert I went to of my own choosing and genuine interest. Myself and two friends.

I also purchased the long sleeve “baseball” style shirt with tour dates, and black silk head bandana; both of which were worn often and have since deteriorated.
