Went to the Trans Siberian Orchestra concert here in Vancouver on Friday night....have long been a fan. The show was okay, lots of light show, stage visuals, etc. Went back home and to see where they were playing next. Seems that the band is very busy...playing in Seattle and Phillie on the same day. After a lot of investigation, I discovered that they really have TWO complete bands on TWO separate tours...and of course, they have the same name. They can't have their stars all in one place, so I think that this is rather fraudulent. If I pay good money to see a band, I don't want to see a clone and/or another copy. If that's the case, why don't all bands just do 12 city tours and have 5 other clone bands do the other parts of the country that they can't or don't want to get to?

Even though I saw a band that had the name I was looking for, I feel ripped off!!!! And getting madder by the moment. Anybody else have this happen?

I moved your thread to the Rock Lounge Pauly, it belongs in this section.

No I can't say that has ever happened to me, and I don't think they should tour with more than one band using the same name.

OB is a big TSO fan, and we both love Savatage, so I find it more than a little weird any band would split up and go on two tours simultaneously...:dunno:

It's a shame that you didn't know that before you went. I'm not all that familiar with TSO but it sounds like it might be like what the Blue Man Group does - have different "teams" out on the road doing the same show...I guess like a franchise system, where you're paying for a show, not any specific set of performers. Ya gotta remember, the principals have other projects to attend to and since TSO is a "themed" concept, the have a compressed calendar for when they'll have it out on the road, so they can make more money and give people the show they expect. I guess you have to think of TSO as a body of work rather than a certain bunch of guys.

I remember the Harlem Globetrotters doing the same thing when I was a kid. We went to see them and I was so disappointed that Curly and Meadowlark weren't with the team we saw.

Yeah, that's a great example.

I would be hightly upset. They should bill the show "team A" and "team B".

Deception is dishonesty's cousin.....and to bill the show TSO and it be two teams is deception!

Does anyone know the names of the players and vocalists in the two groups?
