I'll post one that comes to mind now that I think about it.

The Doobie Brothers when Michael McDonald joined, was a complete shock for the old die hard fans who never did take to the band with McDonald in it. Takin' It To The Street was a watershed moment for the Doobies, me I like both the early Tom Johnston era and the McDonald era as well so I don't exactly qualify as someone who didn't like them and then changed my mind but I stayed loyal right up to Minute by Minute, I didn't follow them after that record.

I was so loyal to the Doobie Brothers,I bought One Step Closer. Now years later I realize that the album isn't that good.:grinthumb

I have most of their albums since Johnston returned. They aren't great albums, but they each have a few good songs on them

I'm drifting off the OP, but I think Jesus is Just All Right by the Doobies is a great track.

^^ agree totally.

For me it was Heart. By the time 1983 rolled around, they were pretty much washed up and 2 years away from power ballad city.

I personally love the first three Genisis albums best. But I can understand why someone would really go for the late 70s Genesis. When I play them on drums those songs are usually the ones I do (you may begin flaming at will). I know, lame ass but they are cool to play and sing.

Funny cyggy, that's the point at which I reckon they started to stink!!

I came to Van Morrison quite late, though I have now caught up and have every album but two, and I'd say that both Mark Knopfler and Pearl Jam were both past their peak popularity-wise before I cotton'd on to their greatness.

I would say AFI...I really like their later work. Sing The Sorrow to the present.

Bob Dylan...I guess.

I started listening to him in 2006...41 years after his original fan-base started booing him and walking out of his concerts for playing electric guitar instead of "folk" music.
