I've been on the Eminem ship since I bought my first CD when i was in third grade. It wad The Eminem Show and since then I have come to know all of his music. At least as much of it as I could find

I think I was 12 when I bought my first Eminem CD. Let me check the dates... wow.... I was 11!

My mom found The Slim Shady LP and the Marshall Mathers LP (uncensored, of course) and took them away from me.

Then like.... 5 years ago she gave them back. LMAO.

Wonder if Metallica falls in this category, I still like them despite how many fans they would have lost during both Napster and the St Anger days.

I'll post one that comes to mind now that I think about it.

The Doobie Brothers when Michael McDonald joined, was a complete shock for the old die hard fans who never did take to the band with McDonald in it. Takin' It To The Street was a watershed moment for the Doobies, me I like both the early Tom Johnston era and the McDonald era as well so I don't exactly qualify as someone who didn't like them and then changed my mind but I stayed loyal right up to Minute by Minute, I didn't follow them after that record.

Status Quo, the hardcore were long gone by the time I got into them. It's pretty much all Granny's and cardigans now.

Green Day. I started listening to them wwith American Idiot, but most people were still waiting for another Dookie. I might have to think about other examples, but that one is the first to come to my mind.

Not a band, but I'm a Huge fan of Beethoven's and all his original fans are long dead...

That's so awesome because when I was younger my cousin would burn me the explicit versions of all Em's CDs and I would write "Bob Seger mixtape" on the discs.

Not sure if they count but Aerosmith first came to mind. I first gained an appreciation for them with Get a Grip and I did enjoy some of their later work beyond that point but I have noticed a lot of the diehards that loved them in the 70's tend to shun those albums. Different folks, different strokes I suppose.

I was never a big fan of Thrash Metal, so I never really cared for Metallica until the Black Album came out. Everyone seems to say they sold out then, but to my ears the Black Album is just pure heavy metal.
