I had a wonderful 'girls' day' yesterday. Met up with a couple of friends I hadn't seen for a while. We met up at Sydney Harbour then had morning tea at a lovely little cafe in The Rocks (the oldest area in Sydney right on the harbour). After walking around The Rocks market for a good while we then went to the Harbour View pub for fish and chip and a beer and nattered for ages there. Walked over to the Opera House and back to the Rocks area again and had an ice cream It was a lovely warm and very relaxing day.

I'm willing to bet there's a whole lot more to do there than up here, and I bet the sights are far more pretty and less... cold!

There is a LOT to do here - never a dull moment Sydney is a huge sprawling city and getting bigger all the time.

And if I recall correctly it's pretty expensive to live in, right?

Unfortunately yes People my age will never be able to afford a house here unless they win the lottery. It is crazy! Of course the nearer you are to the ocean the more expensive the houses are but even away out in the western suburbs (endless miles of boring houses) it is expensive.

We don't even have a state lottery up here! It's expensive but the pay here is SO much better so it evens out really, plus you get a PFD every October if you've lived here long enough, which is a check from the state (or the oil companies, one of those) just for living in Alaska.

It is! Everyone buys pimped out TV's and stuff with them. I'd probably just save it.

I'm saving like crazy for our trip next year.

Jimmy is really good He's working a 6 day week - 10 hour day and has been for the last few months. He is one of those crane drivers (huge things they are) on multi storey constructions. Excellent pay so he's not complaining. He's also saving for the trip.
