My very first pre-war blues record: Peg Leg Howell, from 1929.

It's pretty rough... very rough. I found it at the thrift store with no sleeve. It's got some flecking at the edges, but as there is no lead-in groove on this 78, that has no adverse effect on how it plays.

"Chittlin Supper" has pronounced, steady static start to end. Mandolin comes through very clear, though. Vocals are very hard to make out but I think it's more because of a bad recording.

"Monkey Man Blues" is similar but not nearly as bad, and the vocals are much easier to hear.

So, nothing really to brag about, unless the songs are super rare. These recordings were included in a collection of his recordings on LP and CD in the mid-80's and about 2005, so prob not.
