These are buildings that inspired the design of the Empire State Bldg. These buildings were literally looked at to give an idea for the ESB design. What gets me is that somebody will see Detroit's Penobscot Bldg. for example and say it copped off of the ESB when in fact it predated the ESB and helped to inspire its design which means the opposite should be said.
