I had never heard of Billy Nichols and I'm an old guy....but big fan of Small Faces and had some 45;s by Shannon also. Never really got into Eagles but fan of the Byrds, Yardbirds, Doors, Animals, Cream and Dire Straits.... though while I love Knopflers guitar playing some of their songs didnt click with me.I would have been @ -7.5 on the 31st Dec 1969, though since I came after that date gives me no excuse to say "It's before my time".
I don't know all them groups it's even got some Folk, Country & Pop making the cut! Interesting Billy Nicholls made @tkitna list with Would You Believe - the Small Faces were the Session Musicians on that album, though Billy Nicholls also contributed some songs which went towards the Home and Away Sessions for Del Shannon, the connection there is Andrew Loog Oldham. From the Would You Believe album is a track called "Come Again", Del Shannon covered this song which is quite good, though retitled "Cut and Come Again", which suits his dark approach to music:
What strikes me about the members here selections is there's no:
* Byrds
* Eagles
* Doors
* Yardbirds
* Animals
* Cream
* Dire Straits

or is my brain off again today.Billy Nicholls would be regarded as another one of those Obscure Songwriters who brought out an album in the 60s. To my knowledge I'm unsure any of his songs charted or if anyone managed to get his songs to chart (guess that makes him a bit like Nick Drake). I listened to his Would you Believe album online 1st and quite liked it, so managed to purchase the CD though his offical website. He's made a few albums though and believe he came out with another just recently.I had never heard of Billy Nichols and I'm an old guy....but big fan of Small Faces and had some 45;s by Shannon also. Well I'm not judging peoples preferences, there's some great albums which I've heard and then there's stuff I just don't know. The Doors (Official Thread) used to be quite a hot topic here for example, just surprised nobody threw in their favourite album of theirs.As to the other members above not on any lists, I think most only posted 10 or so bands but it is odd that a few of thsoe bands werent on one or two lists. Blame it on youth and lack of knowledge...?
In 6 months time.So....then by my reckoning you are about 49 yrs old....or is my brain off again today.
Well the problem is I know too much, my favourites would change at the drop of a hat, I try breaking it into 2 albums from the 50s to the 90s, though even that seems tough (or controversial for being something released later or not strictly a Rock album).Still would like to know who some of your favorites are..........
