Sooty, If you are checking out soul albums, you might like an oldie, Solomon Burke. Solomon is considered one of the founding fathers of soul back in the 60's.


I would suggest starting with my favorite Solomon Burke "Rock n' Soul"

I'm not the biggest soul fan but have always liked Isaac Hayes, especially "Hot Buttered Soul" and the theme from Shaft too.

Magic already mentioned Stevie Wonder whom I also like and have 7 of his albums but he's R&B as much as he is Soul...not that I'm genre splitting.

Sam Cooke, Lou Rawls and Nat King Cole are 3 more I think you could put in this thread, even though Nat was a fabulous piano player and has jazz overtones in a lot of his music.
