Last week on March 10th was the birthdate of the first successful bi-directional transmission of clear speech by Alexander Graham Bell and Watson.

On that note...let's vote on these great notes from GREAT songs about the telephone!!! :grinthumb

Telephone Line ~ Electric Light Orchestra

867-5309 (Jenny) ~ Tommy Tutone

Operator ~ Jim Croce

Don't Lose My Number ~ Phil Collins

Love On The Telephone ~ Foreigner

Here's how I would list them:

#1-867-5309 (Jenny)-That's the song you would build a poll like this specifically for! The rest seem like fill ins.

#2-Telephone Line-Nice vocal but there's something awkward, weird and offsetting about this whole video and song.

#3-Don't Lose My Number-Not a bad song but no Collins highlight IMO.

#4-Love On The Telephone-Just a bland boring song IMO. just feels meh!

#5-Operator-Not a fan of Croce at all! :heheh:

Jenny, Jenny, you're the girl for me.
You don't know me but you make me so happy.

That one gets my vote, but a very close second would be Phil Collins. Love that tune too

In order:

1) 867-5309
2) Don't Lose My Number
3) Telephone Line (Don't care for the verses but I do like the chorus)
4) Operator
5) Love on the Telephone

Telephone Line

Another appropriate one by Electric Light Orchestra would be Calling America, their last US Billboard hit single at #18 in 1986...
