Van Halen fans around the world wound up being disappointed when the group cut their tour in support of their recent album ‘A Different Kind of Truth’ short after guitarist Eddie Van Halen underwent emergency surgery. But things appear to be looking up, as the band have booked three new dates for the summer of 2013 to replace the shows they had to cancel in Japan.

Van Halen were initially slated to play the Japanese dates in late November, but that was before Eddie Van Halen suffered a life-threatening bout of diverticulitis that put him out of commission and forced the group to change their plans. Bassist Wolfgang Van Halen hasn’t been sitting around — he spent much of the past few months on the road with Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti, who was touring to promote his solo album.

Wolfgang’s famous father even made it out to one of the gigs, looking healthy and prompting speculation that he might be getting ready to get back to work — and now it looks like father and son will, in fact, be returning to the road alongside singer David Lee Roth and drummer Alex Van Halen. As Brave Words reports, Van Halen have scheduled dates for June 21 in Tokyo, and June 24 and 26 in Osaka. The promoter will honor tickets from the original dates.

Now we can only hope that the group will regain their mojo and finish the North American tour, too.

Van Halen has to be the Best soap opera in rock music today, with KISS and Aerosmith next.:heheh:

But I am glad Eddie seems to be back on the road to health, that is more important than touring. I know fans here would love to see them swing by, been a great place for VH to play over the years.

^^I wonder if Michael will ever get tired of Sammy...

If so then there is the remote possibility he could at least do a couple of shows with VH, after all nobody has had a worse relationship than Dave and Eddie so if they can work things out then perhaps Michael could as well.

I still think VH's last album is really good, I like it more than any of the Van Hagar recordings.

As of right now, seems to me that Eddie doesn't want Michael Anthony because of Wolfgang. So other than playing with Sammy Hagar what does Michael Anthony have? I wished he had more options but it doesn't look that way.

^^If there is one certainty about musicians it's that old adage,,,"Never say Never".

Many times as they get older they almost forget what caused the problems, manage to put it aside and do a few shows together just for old times sake.

I agree Wolfgang playing bass complicates it, but there is still a possibility Anthony could do a reunion show or two somewhere down the road. Depends on how Chickenfoot does as much as anything else.

Worked wonders for KISS. At least for a little while.

As far as Michael Anthony, I've always thought his vocal harmonies are just as much of the Van Halen signature sound as Eddie's licks.
