Unknown Song from the 70s! HELP!

Hi. In the late 70s or early 80s a friend gave me a mix tape. It had a couple of songs on it: Closer to the Heart and Pinball Wizard among them.

There was also a song that was amazing:

It was a rock song that had a narrative in it. As guns and rockets exploded in the background of the song, and man and woman spoke. The man had to leave for war and the woman pleaded with him not to leave...

I have no idea what song this is, but I was amazing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
