The Big Man would have been 70 years old today. East Street Band fans can especially feel the loss of Clarence today due to the upcoming tour and album release. We miss you Big Man and always will, but you are a part of many great songs that will always be a part of us. Happy Birthday Clarence.

I have to share this.

A couple of days ago, on my way home from work, I had a random mix cd playing, and Jungleland came on.

When Clarence hit that first, long note of the sax solo, I smiled, because I have always loved that solo, it's always been my favorite one.

But then, like 2 seconds later, unexpectedly, I was struck with such a huge sense of loss. I mean, it actually hurt.

He's not around.

He's gone.

And I'm not ashamed to admit I choked up.

I knew he was gone, and I was really bummed, just like everyone else.

But for some reason, at that moment, I guess it hit me on a deeper level.

I guess it just goes to show, sometimes you surprise yourself when you realize just how much you love something.

^^Very poignant post Vehicle and has the ring of absolute truth to it, you never know when the feeling of utter loss will hit you, a month ago I had an entire week of vivid dreams about my Dad, who I lost 10 months ago, out of the blue. Knocked me back for a few days.

I've always loved the saxophone element in Springsteen's music, Clarence was such a big part of the band's sound it is impossible to think of one without remembering the other.
