MP, it took me awhile to get around to listening to it but I was surprised in a good way! I guess I was under the assumption that Tori would be all piano virtuoso and this album seemed to have quite a rock edge to it and a lot of the tracks seemed a little dark and I enjoyed that! Is this more characteristic of her overall style or would you say my original thinking wasn't too far off? The tracks I noted as enjoying the most were "Raspberry Swirl", "Spark", "Playboy Mommy" and "Liquid Diamonds".

If there are more Tori albums similar to this one I may pick up another. Thanks for the recommendation guys! :)

You should watch this, it's very insightful:

Heard this on the radio the other day and am curious to know what you guys thought/think of it

Armand Van Helden Professional Widow mix (Armand's Star Trunk Funkin' Mix)

I remember being outraged when I first heard it soon after it's release, back in the late 90's I think, thinking they had turned a Tori song into something truly hideous. Of course it ended up shooting to No.1 in UK charts, sacrilegious when I think of all the fantastic singles Tori has put out that barely scraped the top 20/30 in UK. But I guess it was excellent exposure for Tori, although I have come across people who, when I've told them I'm a Tori Amos fan, reply that they didn't think I liked dance music :bonk:

It's different I'll give it that. But if it gave extra exposure to Tori, than I guess it can't be a bad thing in the end.

I'm not a fan. I have all those remix EPs mostly and as a collector cool but it's disappointing to have Tori's name attached to something so mundane as a repetitive chopped up dance remix. :)

I really think dance remixes only work with pop tunes, you know artists like Katy Perry or Lady Gaga.

I think this one was my favorite from From the Choirgirl Hotel...

Raspberry Swirl

Was that a song a single? I have the tendencies to pick out the singles from albums I've never heard without knowing they were singles. :heheh: I also think I remember reading that this album was a bit more moody for her, because she had had a series of miscarriages before it. Did she ever have a baby? That's really sad. :(

Jen, that was a single and it has a video that's as weird and energetic as the song. Tori does have a child that actually sings on her last album. :) One of my top tracks on that album is Playboy Mommy which is a great jazzy sad account of her miscarriage. :)

Usually I despise Tori remixes but I really dig this one:
