1990 The road crew for Roger Waters discovered an unexploded World War II bomb while constructing the set for The Wall concert in Potsdamer Platz, Germany.

1993 About 40,000 people attend Farm Aid 6 in Ames, Iowa, that features Willie Nelson, John Cougar Mellencamp and Neil Young.

1945 Stu Cook (bass guitarist for Creedence Clearwater Revival) is born in Oakland, California.

1946 Ronnie Gilbert (bass guitarist for Blues Magoos) is born.

1950 Steve Ferrone (drummer for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Average White Band) is born in Brighton, England.

1955 David Sikes (bass player for Boston, Giuffria) is born near Cambridge, England, but will be raised in California.

1988 Bon Jovi's manager Doc McGee was convicted on drug offences arising from the 1982 seizure of 40,000lb of marijuana smuggled into north Carolina from Colombia. McGee was sentenced to a five year suspended prison term and a $15,000 fine.

1990 The Fender Stratocaster that Jimi Hendrix played at the Woodstock festival was auctioned off for a record $295,000. His two-hour set at the 1969 festival became the longest of his career.

1967 16 year old Janis Ian sings "Society Child" on the CBS-TV show, Inside Pop - The Rock Revolution. A year before, the song was banned by many radio stations because of its interracial love affair theme. Following her television appearance, the record shot into the US Top Twenty.

1967 Mama Cass Elliot gives birth to a daughter she names Owen Vanessa. She never told anyone who the father is, but many years later Michelle Phillips helped Owen locate her biological dad. Owen grew up to become a singer as well and toured with Beach Boys member Al Jardine

1975 B.J. Thomas not only reached the top spot on both the Cash Box Best Sellers list and the Billboard Hot 100, he also set a record for the number one song with the longest title with "Hey Won't You Play Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song". The tune was not a hit in the UK.
