Sox,I was hoping you and Sweaty might just add a few bands to the list. Dr Feelgood? Dr Feelgood ...I missed Dr Feelgood :wa
Other artists who have played our town include Gerry and the Pacemakers,Screaming Lord Sutch and theres a strong rumour Alvin Lee played Barrow Hill...
There was a comment that made me chuckle....a person who saw Mr Hendrix in 1967 at the ABC was asked what he was like. The reply was.......he had fuzzy hair :bonk::heheh:

.......and this is where legends PINK FLOYD played in the late 60s St James Hall [ Jimmys ]. A venue knocked down years ago....bet that was some gig!!. An old friend of mine claimed he helped with the light show that night.
At this venue I first saw SARACEN in their NWOBHM days in the early 80s :grinthumb

That building brings back memories!

Lou, not a gig but didn't Carl Palmer do a drum clinic at Chester Street Club, of all places?

Yes its true Tray !! ...and only a stone throw from my house . Sweaty did some quick research on the web .
Heres another pub/venue that is sadly no longer with us. Another building knocked down a few years back.....The Brim Tavern. It played a big part in Chesterfields music history in the 80s promoting NWOBHM and prog bands.

Heres a bit of a list of bands who played the venue ...Marillion [ in painted faces days ] ,Demon, Pallas,Mendes Prey,Spider,Shiva,Dawn Trader plus local heroes Saracen,Witchfynde,Race Against Time,Dagaband,Thunderchilde etc
.......and where was I living in Chester at the time :bonk:

I saw Spoilt Bratt at the Brim Tavern Lou, about '83. Harry went to the Carl Palmer drum night and he said Ric Lee the drummer from Ten Years After was in the audience.

Saw some good bands at the Adam and Eve nightclub on Rock Night in the 80's, one that particularly stands out is Engine.

Well I live in New York City, then before that in D.C. for over 17 years, and I grew up near Manchester, England. So I really wouldn't know where to start.

But, my first ever rock gig - which because it was the first, and I had never seen or heard anything in my life to that point so spectacular, and so it remains one of the most memorable, was when my father took me to see Rush at the Liverpool Empire theatre in 1977, I also recall that the support was a good band called Stray, so strictly speaking they were the first live band I ever saw.

Seeing RUSH in in 1977 is very impressive THE SOUND your father sounds a top guy taking you to that gig. I saw RUSH years and years later ...not too far away in Sheffield and they did a great show.
RECKY....Good list of bands on them festival gigs, I had to put my glasses on....but I saw THE CHURCH as one of the bands listed. Wow! did you go to this one? I bet they were in top form in 1983. Still haven't seen them myself yet...one day.
KHOR...Yet again, some fine bands rocked your town...U.F.O, Queensryche, Anvil,Accept ......great stuff :grinthumb
