The Who have announced a residency in Las Vegas for this summer.

The band will play six shows at Caesars Palace starting on July 29. Other scheduled dates include Aug. 1, 4, 7, 9 and 11. As The Guardian notes, the statement announcing the residency refers to the concerts as a “first run.”

In late 2014, the Who launched what was being called their last big tour. Those shows are scheduled to come to an end next month, when they play five rescheduled concerts in England. They also have two acoustic performances of Tommy on their itinerary as part of a benefit.

Of course, the Who have a history of farewell tours. Their first was way back in 1982, when guitarist Pete Townshend, singer Roger Daltrey and bassist John Entwistle said goodbye with drummer Kenney Jones, who replaced the late Keith Moon in 1979. Since then, the band — with and without Entwistle, who died in 2002 — has regrouped for a number of tours.

Last October, the Who took part in Desert Trip, a two-weekend festival that featured some of classic-rock’s biggest names, including the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young and Roger Waters.

Even though artists like Elton John and Rod Stewart have played the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in the past, The Guardian notes that the Who are the first rock band to play the venue since its opening in 2003.

Tickets for the Who’s six-show residency in Las Vegas go on sale at noon PT March 17 at the Colosseum’s website and at AXS.

It was only a matter of time before the legends started selling out. It puts them in the same category as Barry Manilow, Tom Jones, Wayne Newton, et al.. For F#@ks sake it's not like they need the money
