I
Ozzy Osbourne's work as a solo artist.

I don't believe his work with Sabbath is overrated but his solo stuff is very much so, particularly over the past 15-20 years.

Those first 2 or 3 solo albums are excellent IMO.. I still haven't heard anything that sounds like it without ripping off of it..:grinthumb

I don't know what Ozzy was/is thinking with the rest of them..

The last album of his I enjoyed was No More Tears, which to me means he hasn't done much that is worth a damn (including the "new" songs with Sabbath) in about 20 years! :)

I'll give credit to Green Day for being at least a "decent" band with a couple of good songs here and there. In my mind, they shouldn't be praised to be the best punk-rock band ever(or have their own video game either). Never could get into Sum 41.

Sum 41 has never been rated outside their niche, to consider them over rated isn't really logical

I live in Buffalo, NY
I never really like the term overated because artists who I believe are in that category are loved by millions of people who think they are that great so how can I say that they are not that great?

Anyway, I've mentioned on many posts here Zeppelin & Hendrix. Both artists I love & really love about 60-90 minutes of material by them but other than that I can do without the rest. I never understood the popularity of their music. I know especially with Hendrix it goes beyond the music but I just never cared for either all that much.

I also feel the Sex Pistols were just Mclarens puppets who he needed to play out his little game after he failed w/the NY Dolls shortly before their split up. I also understand their importance & they did have some great tunes but if I want Punk I'd rather have the Heatbreakers, the Ramones, Richard Hell, The Damned, or The Dead Boys

I also thought Nirvana were decent but he was no genius like he was made out to be after his death. They had some good albums but hell so did Hanoi Rocks & a million other bands. I don't think they deserve to be put up on a pedestal. I actually prefer Hole albums

Now those 4 artists I mentioned have a lot of stuff I love but I don't understand their popularity. I far from hate them & as I said millions of fans see something I never did so I can't really say there wrong

I agree that "No More Tears" was the last really great album from Ozzy (I think it being the last with Bob Daisley has something to do with it) but there have been good songs on every album since, some more than others. I think "Ozzmosis" and "Under Cover" were both fine albums.

I think Ozzmosis was pretty good too...:grinthumb

Forgot about Daisley. One always associates NMT with Mike Inez

Not to me Priest. Mike didn't even play bass on "No More Tears", Bob Daisley did. Plus Bob had a big part in the songwriting on that album and as well as all of his albums with Ozzy up to that point and songwriting is what I fell has been the most lacking characteristic in his last few albums.

I know Daisley played on it...but Inez is shown in the documentary 'Don't Blame Me"

Even though it didn't "fool me" you just get used to the images, you know? :heheh:
