I reckon it's quite hard on the ears and the mind and the soul to trip out on The Wall after having listened to PGD.....NOOOO margin of comparison at all:):flirt:lmao::lmao:

I agree no comparison at all.

The Wall > Piper...:grinthumb

Not even close in fact.

I didn't like the movie of the Wall when it came out...and I admit to having to listen to the Wall a few times before I took it all in and on top of it all it is a tragic story Roger is spinning, but when I am in a contemplative mood that is when I play the Wall.

"Run Like Hell" is a good song too S&L.:D

^^It's hard to say Cream'd, I am on record saying from Meddle onward is my favorite era of the band. But I think I have all of their albums from Piper to Pulse now...I am a completionist at heart so that is part of the reason I guess.

As MP and many others will often do, go to a bands homepage and see if they offer a "stream" of their albums, many bands do that now to allow you to listen to a complete recording before deciding whether you want to buy it.

Well Piper is definitely pleasant to the ears and the mind. It just amazes me how eclectic the album is. From darker sounding fare like Matilda Mother to the soft, dreamlike quality of Chapter 24. I think I've listened to Piper more times by now then any of Floyd's other stuff.

Glad you're listening to more than the "big three". :grinthumb

Atom Heart Mother can be a tough one to get into though especially if you haven't been prepared for it by their earlier stuff. Personally I love it; it's one of my favorite Floyd records ever.

If you're into the weird, dramatic and dynamic, listen to the title track of Saucerful of Secrets, and Echoes from the Meddle album. Echoes is absolutely essential listening.

Two more early essential albums are Obscured By Clouds and More. Earlier in the thread I think i posted a few songs from those albums.

Only stay away from The Final Cut really. The last two Gilmour led albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason and the Division Bell are ok, but I definitley would never put them on for pleasure and I'm a massive Floyd fan.:)

Happy listening!

Hate to say stay away from any Pink Floyd albums, but I agree.

I almost completly forget that album even exists.

Hey,architect....what do you think about ''The Pros And Cons Of Hitch-Hiking'' compared to ''The Final Cut''? Both albums came out around the same time.
