THE GATES OF SLUMBER:

Formed 1998, Indianapolis, IN, United States this power trio play an awesome form of Epic Doom/ Heavy Metal.
The first two lean more toward the Doom metal spectrum while their latest incorporate more of an Epic feel then the others.
All their stuff is great ,IMO. I own all the full lengths and a few of the EPs as well.

One of my favorite Doom metal bands. They deserve much more attention then they are recieving.

The opener to "Hymns of Blood and Thunder" is a riff cruncher. This song doesn't sound like doom to me:

Epic Doom is a bit faster and more Epic Metal while retaining a good deal of the doom metal characteristics.

Doom seems to have a bad name around here .It is one my favorite sub-genres these days.




BTW all the videos play fine for me.

Doom is not my area of expertise, but I'm willing to give most of the bands you post a listen, as long as the vocals are okay...you know what I mean.

Doom just seems to be deeper toned, and not as much fury, along with darker lyrics, IMO. I am still listening to the new album, so it is way too early for me to say too much about this band, ya know

Yeah, I got ya, but I'm not sure why alot of the older fans don't like Doom.
It is much more like the 70's proto era material ,IMO.

It is ALL Doom it's just Epic Doom. The more you listen to Doom the more it will become apparent I think. That is if you do listen to it at all of course.
