The Cult have a few good albums. Some are inconsistent but obviously Love was their breakout album and a very good one. Their sound changes just a little bit with each album. They often did not have the same musicians from album to album; only the vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy have been the constant force in the band of course. I think they even lost the drummer between the time of recording Love and producing videos for the album. They have had more drummers than Spinal Tap.

I own a couple of albums from the band but for me Sonic Temple is my favorite. It did take me a long time to fully appreciate the album though. I wrote about that in my Cassette Chronicles series. You can check out that particular article HERE!

However, the one time I saw them on tour (opening for Metallica), Ian Astbury was the laziest performer I have ever seen. He sang every third word of the lyrics and let the crowd kind of fill in the rest.
