Yeah BBC 1 is being remastered bucky...I have the original in a double jewel case. I'm sure this is gonna be better packaging as well :grinthumb

I picked up both BBC volumes today & I've listened to only a few tracks so far & like what I hear. I plan on listening to them overnight tonight so I'll write back tomorrow. The packaging is pretty cool as well.

I'm basically a casual Beatles...I have all of their official releases & a few other things but the Beatles may not even be in my top 30 favorite bands still I do like them a lot & these BBC releases mean a lot because I love the covers which shows a history of their influences. This is why I also enjoy things such as Lennon's Rock n Roll, Live Peace in Toronto 1969,McCartney's Unplugged, & Run Devil Run

Never liked the 'cover' of the White Album, totally lacking any artistic value but the Beatles were at their zenith back then. At least it does have raised lettering that doesn't show up on photographs.

I like the White album now more than I ever have...but STILL skip over Revolution #9, and no I don't think it's avant-garde or a marvelous experimental song I think it's one of the 5 worst songs ever recorded in that decade. To this day I wonder how potent the drugs were John was taking when he came up with that abomination.;)

Bobbi Fleckman moment in Spinal Tap :oyea:

Much high voltage entertainment here.I very much enjoy the mellow diversion of "Til There Was You".George Harrison's lead guitar solo on "Roll Over Beethoven" stands high testament to his being one of the very finest pickers in rock history."Mr. Postman" is gorgeously contagious and contains excellent exhibitions of the Fabs' abilities as vocalists of very fine group dynamics.Even Ringo has a blaze of glory with his marvelous interpretation of Lennon and McCartney's "I Wanna Be Your Man",which became the Rolling Stones' first UK hit single. All of this inside one of the most iconic album covers ever.By the way, which do you prefer, the black and white "heads" cover or the blue tinted version Capitol Records offered up as the sleeve for "Meet The Beatles"?

^^I prefer the blue tinted "Meet The Beatles" cover. Of course, being American, I grew up with that album. The British versions were more expensive and only to be found in record stores cool enough to have an import section.

I was aware of the inclusion of this one on many bootlegs until I finally heard it on "Anthology 1".This along with covers such as,"Sheik of Araby" ,"Searchin'" and "Younglblood" really fascinated me as more than mildly interesting relics from the Fabs' earlier "roots" period.Even the later to be discarded Pete Best's drumming impressed me in a few spots.I'm also a big fan of Hamburg and BBCtapes that show the band's true colors as a damn good and tight rock and roll roster.I believe "Cats" was one of the Decca audition tunes.Of course as we all know Decca's conclusion in turning the Beatles down came with the obviously highly erroneous assessment that "guitar groups are(were)on their way out"......

All Those Years Ago

Last night there was a tribute to George on the 12th anniversary of his passing. It took place by his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Friends and fans showed up, we sang, laughed, remembered and shed a tear or two. It was beautiful. Of course, there will be a tribute to John next week.
