There are a number of outstanding Canadian bands that should've been internationally successful: Pat Travers Band, Saga & Rob Moratti and Max Webster, to name a few.

I agree with Saga. On the Loose climbed to #3 in the US in 1981 and they had a few other minor hits, but they are too progressive for the mainstream listener.

FM - Not the soulful British melodic rock band, but the Canadian progressive rock band from the seventies, which sound a bit like UK. I was sure there was a thread here on Canadian bands, but couldn't find it using the search.

Canned Heat
Crack the Sky
Angel Witch
Screaming Trees
Mindfunk (ha!!!!!)

Wait, James Gang didn't 'make it'? With two heavily rotated songs and a movie? I know, I'm just feeling punchy.

I agree with Angel Witch (they get a lot of mentions here, don't they?), but I thought Canned Heat were big at least in the US.

They have also been described as being too mainstream for the progressive listener!
