Like her or not she's a very talented singer and classy lady. These are two ballads off her 21 album. One is a release which fans and critics alike loveand even Adele says it's the song she wants to be remembered for if nothing else. The other one is my personal favorite off of the album. Which of these Adele ballads do you favor?:

Someone Like You

Turning Tables

I'll answer a little later in the game but I only ask one favor. If you do choose to participate at least pick one you favor over the other even if you aren't a huge fan of either and please give at least a tidbit why you chose one over the other. It makes it a lot more interesting as a thread! Thanks! :)

I like "Turning Tables" way more than "Someone Like You".

This! :grinthumb I like both songs but "Turning Tables" is the song to catch me most on the album. First thing to focus on is the opening piano melodies. Turning Tables is a much better melody that draws you into the emotion of the song a lot quicker and better. I also love the string flourishes. "Someone Like You" has this bouncy little piano melody that sounds like one taken from those television soap drama bands (The Fray, Augustana, etc.) Both are supposed to be dramatic songs about love and hurt and "Turning Tables" is more accurate at portraying that feeling. Now writing wise, "Someone Like You" tells more of a story but it's a cliche one that's been told many times before. So is "Turning Tables" as most heartbreak songs will be but the fact that it's more ambiguous adds more depth and freshness to it. You can relate to theme of back and forth emotions but add your own story to it! For the vocal, I give props once again to the way she tells the story in "Someone Like You" but there are times when the vocal is too drawn out, thin and raspy for me and in "Turning Tables" it's just way more soulful, husky and seaps the emotions of the song! "Turning Tables" is a better song IMO! :cheers2

Not a fan of Adele in any way, shape or form. Hopefully an unbiased choice, 'Someone Like You'.

That's what I think. She has a 'vocal quality' that kind of grates at me. Sounds like she's singing from some space between the top of her throat and the bottom of her nasal passage. i've heard a few 'pop' singers over the years that sing like that and it does irritate me.

But of the two songs, Someone Like You gets my vote.
