Here is a band that gets ridiculously overlooked for whatever reasons. Which is surprising when there are countless upon countless fans of Serj Tenkian's solo work. No matter, that's what threads are for! Behold, easily one of my all time favorite alternative bands, System of a Down.

Re: System of a Down (SOAD)

Always been my favorite nu metal band! Serj's voice is just exquisite, sounds like he's some opera singer or something. Their songs are fun and funny and meaningful at the same time, great band. I mean, c'mon... "PUSHING LITTLE CHILDREN. PUSHING LITTLE CHILDREN." This band is awesome.

My faves are Toxicity and Prison Song.

Surprised to hear you say that about Serj's solo work though. I remember when Empty Walls came out, that was a cool song... I even got the single lol. But I didn't know his solo career was very successful. Has he released any other solo albums?

I love these guys! They are one of the best melodic metal bands I've ever heard! I especially love the two albums made to be synonymous with each other, "Mesmerize" and Hypnotize"! There's not a bad song on either one! They had the best melodies and pure lunacy on there out of anything else!

Mesmerize/Hypnotize

So many songs of f of these! A couple highlights are:

Vicinity of Obscenity
(this may be the best lyrical lunacy I've ever heard in Metal and the best use of Banana in a song since Gwen Stefani)

Lost In Hollywood
(the melodies are perfect for ballads as well)

She's like Heroine
(I love the vocal here, almost like the Mad hatter singing)

I have too more tracks I want to post but I'll give other people a chance. Honestly, my favorite track by them period is from "Toxicity"! I LOVE Aerials! It's epic and from the first note is dark, epic, harmonious and beautiful!:grinthumb

Gonna have to give Hypnotise a chance, the first listen I couldn't get into it.

I love their first two albums, but I can't stand anything else they've done. Not sure why, but I just find the rest of their albums really annoying. Of the two I like, I think I prefer Toxicity, which I haven't heard now in a good couple of years...time to get another copy I think.
