I don't like modern rock either. But that's just our personal perspective and it does not reflect the wider culture. You and I may agree that there'll never be a new Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin. But there are people behind us that think Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin will never hold a candle to Elvis, and people ahead of us who think that Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin will never hold a candle to Animal Collective. It's merely a question of perspective, I agree with your opinion I just don't agree that it's an opinion with any wider weight to it. The same way that we think The Beatles are better than Elvis (I would assume you agree, sorry for that's not so), there will be people who think Arcade Fire is better than The Beatles. It's more of a sociological issue than an issue of content or quality. If we look at it only through our personal opinion than our judgement on the issue is clouded.
