A good live band is great live and it comes across in the recording. But that live version has Geddy singing his balls off and there are a few other things...

Nevermind, it's not that much better but some live recordings really are (see What You're Doing).

Studio. Obviously one of the best bands ever, both in and out of the studio, but Rush do suffer occasionally by making their studio stuff so complex that it's near impossible for 3 guys to replicate it live, though they are such amazing musicians, and with the help of various gizzmo's they use on stage, they still do a phenomenal job.

I prefer the live version because the guitar comes out a bit better imo and it is a little more energetic. Imo most of the songs on atwas were an improvement over all. This is also how I feel about sabbaths live evil and maidens live after death.

Yeah, I like almost every song on there compared to the studio versions. Exceptions are 2112 mainly because it is condensed and..... Well 2112 might be the only exception but some are so close that they are nearly a tie. I think Anthem falls into that category for me.

By Tor & The Snowdog for example on ATWAS is totally kick ass and head and shoulders above the studio along with any other live version afterwards.

The Live version, I think Geddy's vocals are better on it than the studio cut.
