One of the original of the Canterbury bands that produced many great musicians like Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers, Daevid Allen, amongst others and later Allan Holdsworth joined up for one album. Your fav from the following:

From the third onwards for me their music became less and less interesting. The first one slightly better than the second one, they are both great though.

Gotta be honest, I couldn't name one song these guys have done. But then again, when it comes to prog (which I think they are), I don't have much interest in most bands.

I'd love a suggestion for one of their better tunes though.

I only have The First one and Third...so I can't really say.

This isn't mainstream music man. I don't think you would like it Lynch. Hell, I could be wrong. Canterbury/jazz fusion. This track is from Volume Two:

Third. This album goes more towards experimental jazz fusion than the Canterbury sound of the first two. Volume One is somewhat more psychedelic/pop influences. Fourth is very similar to Third as Robert Wyatt left the band after that release. Bundles features of the best jazz rock guitarist Allan Holdsworth.

Can someone explain to me what this is? I'm lost.

:oyea: I asked the same question when I was your age.

Let me say it's an acquired taste. It took me a couple of years to appreciate the music of Soft Machine. It's one of those bands you can't just listen to once. Well...you can. What I'm trying to say it needs to be listened to multiple times.
