I am guilty as others when it comes to Marianne because she was and will be always associated 'in my mind' with 'the stones' and Mick Jagger and also the mid/late 1960s scene in London. Also along with two very good songs she recorded the first As Tears Go By and Sister Morphine as well and with myself also being a life long Jimi Hendrix fan when Jimi first arrived in London in the late summer of 1966 and he was the 'rock sensation' of the UK along with his band The Jimi Experience featuring Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums I read that Jimi when he first met Marianne was 'very interested' in her much to Mick's annoyance but she rejected his advances cos she was with Mick Jagger at the time but years later I read she claimed that quote 'Jimi was the one that got away' and when she appeared as a guest on BBC radio 4s 'Desert Island Discs' programme a few years ago one of her 10 favourite records that she would have taken to a fictious desert island was The Jimi Hendrix Experience version of Hey Joe released in late 1966 in the UK and from memory she said that Jimi's version of Hey Joe whenever she heard it always took her back in her memory to the swinging London scene of Carnaby Street and the west end and the fashions along with The Rolling Stones and The Beatles in 1966/67.
