It's just a poll, asking posters how we feel spammers should be dealt with.

The OP doesn't say "Whatever choice gets the most votes, that's what we'll do."

Opinions are heard. Votes are counted. Huge difference.

Actually, when you think about it, they didn't even have to take this poll. At least they're including us while they're looking at ways to curb it.

Even if nothing comes of it, so what?

Spammers make their living sneaking in the back door.

They're good at it, and this is just one little site. We're severely out-manned.

I've seen spam in here, but it's not an epidemic or anything like that.

So, the people behind the curtain must be doing something right.

Fighting spam is exactly like the bombing missions in WWII. Hundreds of spam bombers fly in formation.

As they near their target, here comes the admin fighter planes, bobbing, weaving, rolling, firing off short burst then cutting away.

They get some, but not all.

When the spam bombers get over their drop zone, press a button, drop their payload, peel off and head for home.

Meanwhile, admin anti-aircraft guns are furiously filling the sky with flak.

They take down a few, but not all of them.

I doubt it'll ever be completely solved.

TS, polls do not necessarily decide what action will take place, they ask for opinions on what people think.

I will share something with everyone who has posted in this thread.

We are going to be installing a new program to run the forum soon, the owner has committed to the new software and when he has time and figured it all out CRF will be updated.

The new Software has far better anti-spam features built in, so Magic told me a while back when we were discussing this. This should give us a better toolkit to deal with spammers, while also maintaining our open door policy for new members.

That is and has been our priority for a while, to bring CRF up to date with all the latest developments and we are happy Shaggy is going to oblige us.

The changeover is our main priority right now, if the site has to be taken offline while the upgrade is done we will let everyone know ahead of time.(As long as Shaggy tells us first of course.;) )

That's all for now.
