Rory for me, hands down.
The old " the most popular is the greatest" argument is and always was a bunch of BS.
@************ ,

I didn't make that argument, nor would I. I see arguments from both sides I can agree with, but I still can't choose.
My own view is that both artists have their place, both are/were very talented musicians, and I actually wouldn't like to seriously have to choose between the two. Rory of course is sadly no longer with us, so I'm glad we've got people like Joe carrying on the tradition of great blues-rock. As a guitarist who plays much in this genre, I appreciate both. I prefer to play Rory's music on the guitar myself, but I'm quite happy listening to either, and can learn from both.
I don't know too much about Joe Bonamassa, except that I am not a fan of much of his solo work, as it tends to be close to pure blues, but I love his heavier work with BCC. With the latter he is the most interesting of modern guitarists and it makes me wonder why he does not play more hard rock.
My vote goes to Gallagher, but the comparison is not like-with-like as Bonamassa came much later.
