I must admit that I don't think that I ever 'really listened' to GHS properly because the only song on the album that caught my attention was Silver Train because Johnny Winter covered it on his Still Alive And Well album in 1973. Angie was a BIG HIT thus a well known song and Star Star turned up on the Love You Live album in 1976. Dancing With Mr.D caught my ears but as for the rest of the album I didn't really pay enough attention to it.

I am definitely getting my hands on a copy of the deluxe cd reissue when it is released in early September.

Nice one E-Z...it's a bit like Come Taste The Band by Deep Purple - just kinda gets overlooked.

I do recall somewhere in the back of my mind that the release was put back..not as long as Beggars Banquet or even Physical Graffiti..but the gaffer at Atlantic feared a sue from Steve McQueen..regarding "giving head" lyric.
Keith left this track til' last fearing a court case...so Jagger drafted a letter to Mr.McQueen and a letter of permission arrived on Ahmet Ertegun's desk.
Keith wrote Silver Train for Johnny Winter..i have a 1970 take somewhere in the racks.
The DNA of Goats i find interesting too..Glyns Brother Andy Johns and Jimmy Miller fell increasingly ill late '72..so as Led Zeppelin were often at Jaggers mansion Stargroves and using their mobile unit ( Smoke on the Water) and Boogie With Stu...so to finish off Goats in early 1973 - Keith Harwood was drafted in ..he had worked with George Kiantz and Jimmy Page etc..
Keith Harwood was a master at the mixing desk and was a great loss to the music world when he perished in the same spot as Marc Bolan- just two weeks before. Sept 4th is in my diary.

Ha ha ha... don't mention Come Taste The Band Nai that Deep Purple Mk.IV EMI album has been 'out of print' for at least 10 years now maybe even 15 years(?) and I have been trying to get my hands on a cd copy of it for years!!. i did at onetime have the vinyl gatefold album plus a copy of it on cd which I sold around 20 years ago but it's about the only Deep Purple album/cd that I haven't got although I have most of the songs spread over several different cds except for Drifter which is annoying plus I want to listen to the album in 'one listen' and not having the songs on 3 or 4 different cds.

If some record executive from EMI is reading this post take note and re-issue
DEEP PURPLE'S COME TASTE THE BAND dude.
    Thanks.

A after thought?. I wonder if Ian Gillian is blocking it's re-issue?. I believe Ian doesn't recognize that album as a Deep Purple album?. Just a thought?.

I might have to wait to see the Rolling Stones (was supposed to this year) but I did enjoy this new song. I could not believe that two of the most legendary rock groups in history made a song together. I love it.

As a side note, I think the boys of the Rolling Stones are just a mad as us not being able to preform. So I think that it why we got "Living in a Ghost Town" and this album for the archives. Kinda like a gift while we wait for 2021.

Even though Keith and Ron are off the sauce and often play well...it's gotta be a small venue setting..Jagger sings in different keys now and it's awful!
Paid mega bucks for the 'Experience' tickets with my Daughter ..two years back- meeting Charlie was the highlight.
Mick was croaking and leaning on Lisa Fischer too often to dig him out. 1976 ..old Mick apologised for the bad sound..though they did a blasting cut of Hey Negrita at Empire Pool.Best live night was in Brixton, London..marine plywood staging..just knee high..Jagger played his Jaguar guitar nearly all night...All of the good times. Regarding Scarlet..a bit weak for me- at least ten other songs that could be held up as the hook.
Through The Lonely Nights for one...and Bill's blistering bass on the original Save Me.

How much longer can these guys go on?. I guess they all want to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the band in 2022?.

Meanwhile back with Goats Head Soup...

I am looking forward to picking up a copy of the expanded cds in a few weeks time.

I am going to pick up a copy of the x2 disc version at HMV this Friday although I doubt if the double disc version will be around to long maybe a few weeks then you won't be able to find a copy except on Amazon.
