According to Roger, he only did LSD twice.. I find that hard to believe. Much of Floyd's music , especially the early stuff seems heavily influenced by the drug. Is their music not known as "acid rock"?

^^I find that hard to believe, but it wouldn't be the first time someone got scared taking LSD and never ingested it again.

More psychedelic/progressive rock to me GG than acid rock.

This is from Wikipedia.. Not necessarily the authority but a good place to start.

"Acid rock is a form of psychedelic rock, which is characterized with long instrumental solos, few (if any) lyrics and musical improvisation"

If you have heard the album "Meddle" I think that description fits it to a tee. Another song that comes to mind is "Welcome to the Machine" from WYWH

I agree that they were acid rock at times but that doesn't mean they did acid. Syd did but the rest of Pink Floyd have never been big druggies, and I like that about them. I mean I have nothing against drug use (quite a fan, actually), but being weird, creative and unique has nothing to do with necessarily doing drugs. A lot of the most far out people are straight edge or very near it.

Some people associated with drug culture just pretended to take lots of drugs. Dennis Hopper (Easy Rider) later said cannabis made him paranoid. I've just remembered that Dean Martin was tee-total.

Their very early stuff was definately acid rock. And yeah, it has nothing to do with what drug the player uses but rather the 'trippy' sound of the music. Elements of this style can even be heard on the first album (really all the early albums) but kind of cut down to make it more commercially appealing.

I have a pretty cool freak out tape I bought in a bargain bin that has Floyd doing an extended version of Interstellar Overdrive. It starts with ginsberg going on about something but is actually a pretty neat recording all in all.
