It is on the way down though, it is not nearly as popular now as it was five years ago, so old dinosaurs like myself still have hope that it will fade into the background almost completely in my lifetime.

LG, you are out of the loop. You have repeatedly told us that you NEVER listen to the radio. Hip hop, R & B, Rap are as alive as ever. And country music is the fastest growing music genre......

I go by what I see and hear on the net and TV, and it is definitely not doing as well now as a few years ago. Nas is on record saying Hip Hop is "Tired". I am sure the kids growing up will latch on to their own brand of music, just like the Grunge movement after the 80's did. We just have to hold out a little longer and all this Crap will fade away....at least that is my hope.

It's alive but it's kind of been given a lobotomy since most of it these days is mindless.

It's fanbase is growing but I from what I've heard the genre itself hasn't really grown into anything new in a many years. Though I'm probably not all that keen on it all since my exposure to country is second hand and my mom has notoriously awful taste in music (that's not a shot at country music. She listens to some of the worst things I've ever heard....like "Tik Tok"....)

I'm a big fan of all those bands/artists EXCEPT:

ABBA
Run-DMC
Madonna
Parliament-Funkadelic

So they got my vote.

ABBA and Madonna are both really overrated, Run DMC is plain rubbish and Parliament-Funkadelic, while I like some of their stuff, really don't rate high enough in my mind for a HOF spot.

The rest are all artist I think have done enough for me that I won't complain to see them inducted

Everyone with the exception of Metallica and maybe the Sex Pistols. How Blondie, ABBA and Madonna made it into the Hall of Fame before such classic "ROCK" acts as KISS, Alice Cooper, and Deep Purple is beyond me. The Hall is a joke to most rock fans. They should change the name to "The Music Hall of Fame".

I'm not a big Metallica guy...but, I don't understand how anyone thinks they shouldn't be in the RRHOF.

Run DMC does suck...but then again I don't like that whole genre of....music??

But, I wouldn't even call Rap ''music''!!!
