Wednesday 23rd July TONY IOMMI appeared on BBC radio-4 'The today programme' this morning in a interview between 7:50-7:59 am via a telephone link.

Tony was asked about Ozzy and Tony replied that he had heard the news yesterday (Tuesday) but "It has only hit me this morning" with Tony sounding quite sombre during the interview. Tony then went on to say that he is thankful to have played the gig in Birmingham with Ozzy seventeen days ago but that he didn't think it would be the last time that he would see him and when asked what was Ozzy like at the Birmingham gig Tony replied saying Ozzy was sitting on a 'throne' to sing and he didn't look to good and in fact all three of them (Tony, Geezer & Bill) were shocked at Ozzy's appearance!. Tony went on to say that Ozzy and him would speak once a week on the phone with each other with Ozzy living in Los Angeles and Tony still living in Birmingham in England and Tony said that he sounded ok on the phone but not seeing him face to face he didn't realise that Ozzy was in that poor shape until he actually saw him again recently. Tony was asked a bit more about Ozzy by the radio interviewer and Tony replied that "He had known Ozzy all his life from school although Ozzy was in a class a year below him." The radio interviewer then asked Tony what was Ozzy like on stage and Tony replied that "Ozzy would be bouncing around the stage and come over to him and Geezer and pull faces at us both and make us laugh!." Tony was then asked is there a particular Black Sabbath song that he associates with Ozzy and Tony after a few seconds pause replied "It has to be Paranoid cos everyone knows that one" after which the radio interview ended before the radio interviewer thanking Tony for appearing on the programme.

RIP Ozzy..

:rip:

My all-time favorite songs with Ozzy Osbourne...

Black Sabbath - "Paranoid" (#61 Pop 1970)
"Crazy Train" (#106 Pop 1981)
"Mama I'm Coming Home" (#21 R&R 1992)

PS-"Hooked on Classics" Louis Clark (of ELO) did the string arrangements on the title track to his second studio album Diary of a Madman in 1981.
