To me his keyboard work was what made their sound so unique and so great, I will never cease to listen to Doors albums through to extreme old age (if I make it) and I can’t say that about most bands, just timeless and beautiful, I hope he rests in peace. I didn't bring my iPod with all my Doors albums on it away with me, unfortunately, so I will have to wait until I get back to NYC to remind myself of what a great musician he was.

Jim Morrison maybe was the poetry, but Ray was the music (most times) behind the doors. I think all of them were great musicians, but Ray was definitely among the most important keyboard players in rock music. Fortunately, he left a good amount of work to be appreciated, even the post-Morrison stuff aren't bad.
