Rick Springfield to Tour With Night Ranger, Loverboy + More

Fans of ’80s pop will have a good reason to rejoice this summer. Rick Springfield announced a lengthy U.S. tour that, depending on the venue, will feature a rotating cast of opening acts including Night Ranger and Loverboy.
The dates begin this Saturday (June 4) at the Greekfest in Kalamazoo, Mich., and will conclude Aug. 28 in Atlanta. Two of the concerts — July 24 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and July 27 in Interlochen, Mich. — are being billed as “Stripped Down” shows, which his website calls a “special ongoing series of intimate, solo performances with interactive multimedia and storytelling.”
Ten of the full-band dates on the tour will not have an opening act, but for about 25 percent of the shows, Night Ranger and the Romantics are the other two bands on the bill. For dates when one of them is unavailable, their slots will be filled by Loverboy, 38 Special, the Fixx and Tommy Tutone. The itinerary below lists who is opening on which night.

Springfield recently lost his guitar technician, Ruben Velasco, to cancer, and the money raised from these packages will go to the Rock for Ruben Fund. For $2,000, two fans will serve as his honorary techs during both soundcheck and the concert, and they will receive a guitar signed by Springfield and get their picture taken with him.
