Richie Sambora has tried to clear the air regarding his exit from Bon Jovi's world tour this past April. The longtime BJ guitarist says that there are a lot of misconceptions floating around about why he left, including the notion that his hard drinking and partying led to his dismissal.

Sambora contends that he left the tour because he needed to be with his 16-year-old daughter.

"I think people don't understand exactly what [a world tour] means," he explained on Australian TV show Today. "You don't get to come home. There's a huge sacrifice in that."

When pressed about a possible return to the group, Sambora said he was "pretty sure" they'd reunite: "I don't think it's going to be the end of the band or anything like that."

Bon Jovi came out and said it was about Sambora's "Greed" that led to his quitting the tour. Not sure who's telling the whole story here and not a huge fan of theirs' anyway. But at least there is a chance they'll put this all behind them somewhere down the road.

There is always 2 sides to every coin. I just find it coincidental that Sambora released a solo album during this time, and was giving live events while MIA from Bon Jovi. This does give credibility to the "greed" theory.

^^There's also the theory that Bon Jovi is a 'control freak' and treats his band like rented mules when they are touring...wouldn't be the first band leader who was a tyrant. I sort of understand that on one level, you demand the best from your band when you play live for obvious reasons, but you can't just beat them to death all the time either.

Stay tuned this story still has legs I'm sure.

Yepp....

Jon Bon Jovi will surely have a response to this. Neither one of these guys are spring chickens and I can see Sambora wanting time with his daughter. Especially since he was tweeting so many pictures of himself and his daughter together over the summer ;)

Maybe he wanted more money as compensation for sacrificing time with his daughter...if it wasn't worth it than maybe he chose his daughter instead.

Just a thought.

Daughter's are getting ready to become young adults and to go off to college and flee the nest when they get to around 16, it apparently didn't seem to bother him that he was on the road all the time and away from her whilst she was actually growing up, so to me at least that doesn't make sense....and if it doesn't make sense then it usually isn't true. Phil X by the way did a great job standing in for Sambora when I saw the band this summer.

It seemed to me that Sambora was capable of leading his own band, but he stayed with Bon Jovi for the big money. I don't care much for Bon Jovi, but I think a Sambora band could've been interesting.

Sambora is certainly one of my favourite guitarists, probably ever, for me he's right up there with Alex Lifeson, Mike McCready, Mike Campbell, Eric Clapton, The Edge....and Sambora's 3 solo albums are excellent, especially the most recent one 'Aftermath of the Lowdown'....so yes, he would have a significant career if he did quit BJ, he'd especially be missed by Bon Jovi as a songwriter, pretty much every significant 'classic' Bon Jovi track you can name was co-written with Sambora.

Always liked this track....
